Greenbrier Middle School School
School Counseling Office

The middle school years are the ones adults look back on as a small stepping stone to becoming the person they are, but students see it as their whole lives. These years generally house a student's first big shift in friendships, time management stressors, academic strains, and is almost always peppered with needs for conflict resolution. All of these things happen at the same time, along with innumerable stresses at home, making it virtually impossible for students to navigate these years alone. To aide our students in their middle school navigation, the counseling office provides the following resources at GMS:

Individual Conflict Management/ Mediation

Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Restorative Conferencing

Time Management Instruction

Peer Leadership

Periodic Whole Group Instruction

Student/Parent mediation (special circumstances)

Student/Teacher mediation

The counseling department also offers bi-monthly Parent Nights. These nights will offer a presentation and conversation about a range of topics that effect middle school students. Please check out the schedule of Parent Nights, and plan to attend to learn more about your student and his/her school.

Meet the Counselor

My name is Tori Sherer! I am a graduate of Bethel University (formerly Bethel College), and received my Master's Degree at Austin Peay State University.  I have been a school counselor since 2010, and have served at Greenbrier Middle since 2012. I am also the 504 and Support Team coordinator,  the chairperson for our Culture Committee and the RTI2B Committee for schoolwide behavior, and the lead middle school counselor for Robertson County.

I have a passion for helping students navigate through some of the toughest years of their lives and I am privileged to serve the community where I grew up.
